About Us

When In Baguio App, formerly When In Baguio Eat is the product of the frustrations and challenges brought by the COVID19 Pandemic.

We started the When In Baguio brand in 2016 initially as wanting to create an online directory and digital marketing agency just for fun and a bit of passive income. While we were getting the hang of it, disaster struck  in 2018 as our files were lost including our office at the Pines Arcade fire at Session Road. We fought back as we worked with our spare times to make our brand still visible in the digital space while working with our other ventures. It was about paying the bills and just making it work with whatever we had going on with our own work and projects.

Two years passed and as we were going along with our normal lives and just getting back on our feet. Fate and coincidence will kick us back in the ground again when the COVID19 Pandemic hits the world full force. The business ventures that we’ve built apparently were not pandemic proof and came crashing down. After a month of ECQ solitude I was ready to throw in the towel, get back into the medical field, pack my bags and leave Baguio behind for a different path. I got a message from my Co-Founder/Programmer/Website Developer/Mobile App Developer/Graphic Designer/Photographer/Editor John Clifford Gonzales that we should venture into the mobile app delivery craze. I knew for a fact that his specialty was website development but since he did a lot of studying at Youtube University mobile app development seems to be just a few months away. He probably might edit out his name if he just copy and pasted this article into this website. But the whole world should know that he should be credited for laying out the groundwork for us to have a functional minimum viable product.

I on the other hand had only a few months worth in the bank. So I had two choices, one had the promise of a guaranteed reasonable income twice a month and probably an opportunity to move out of the country afterwards. Another, one final venture to put everything on the line with a promise of nothing and a “maybe” of striking gold at the end of the rainbow. I guess I won’t leave Baguio behind with tears. So I grabbed my laptop and walked from Caguioa Street to Evangelista Street for the next three months back and forth sometimes with no bath and sleep to build “The Baguio App”. I was in charge of the branding, marketing, partners acquisition and operations while Clifford would handle the technology as backend, frontend, project manager and graphics design.

We were fond of the super apps that came before us but apparently these companies charge a hefty commission ranging from 15-35% which greatly increase
